We got there late Friday night and the boys had the fishing game and shape sorter down before I could even walk through the door. It's funny to me that they never forget where the games and toys are and they have their certain ones at each Grandparent's house. We visited for a little while and then went to bed.
Saturday morning we woke up and Grandma cooked eggs. She loves to cook eggs for Wade because he loves them. She fries them just the way he wants them. Last time we were there she made four for him. This time he ONLY had three. We enjoyed our day just sitting around and trying to visit while the kids played. There was a bad storm that came through McAlester on Wednesday. Grandma had a whole bunch of sticks and branches from her trees that were down in her yard. She asked if we could get out there and break them up and bundle them. Wade and Lafe went out early in the morning and gathered some big branches. We all went out later and broke them down. Wade and I had saws to cut the thicker branches. He did a great job of sawing and he was so proud of himself when he cut through a really thick piece of wood. Grandma and I enjoyed cooking a stew together all day long. We even got out and went to Wal-Mart to get some carrots that we needed. It was so much fun!!! I was going to go with Joseph, but the other boys decided they wanted to go to. We couldn't and didn't want to leave Grandma behind by herself so she loaded up in the van and went with us. I felt kind of bad for her. When I go to Wal-Mart with all three of my boys, I rush through the store like a mad woman. I slowed it down a bit for her, but I'm not sure it was enough. Ooops!!! Wade was nice enough to stay with her and make sure she wasn't left behind for too long.
We stayed through Saturday night and enjoyed worshipping with her on Sunday. As soon as we finished our lunch at KFC, we headed home and changed our clothes. I got the van packed up and we took off for home. I was EXHAUSTED!!!
Wade spent most of his time on the computer playing a fishing game. He came in and reported to us when he caught one. He was also such a sweet gentleman to Grandma. When I would ask him to walk with her or help her to the van, he did it proudly and without a grumble. He opened doors for her and he looked so happy to be serving her in that way. I was so incredibly proud of him!!!
Here are some of the memories we made this weekend:
Grandma has this really cool wall as you walk in her front door that is one big mirror. The boys have always loved looking at themselves in the mirror. I love it too. It's nice to be able to get a good look at yourself before you walk out the door into public. Joseph really enjoyed looking at the baby and kissing him. He kept running over there and laughing at the baby in the mirror.

My uncle and my parents are sailing my uncle's sailboat this week. They called to let us know where they were every now and then. Grandma spent some time looking at the Atlas to see if she could find where they said they were headed. I don't think we ever found it, but apparently they are somewhere having a great time. :)
Grandma enjoyed sharing her dessert with Joseph. Literally, to the last drop. Of course, I had to help lift him up into her lap. There's no way I was going to let her pick that chunk up by herself.

Lafe truly enjoys this fishing game. My sisters and my cousins will all know which one I'm talking about. Grandma and I had been playing with him and talking about how we were going to cook the brim that he had caught. The next thing we knew, he said "Look. I'm cooking the fish." He put some of the plastic fish in a little container of Grandma's and set it on top of the lamp so that the light could "cook" them. Pretty clever if you ask me. We were both pretty impressed.

I'm glad you guys had fun. Isn't it amazing how hard travelling alone is?
What a great trip, and great memories for your boys! I'm impressed that you went by yourself! Good for you, and I know your kids will have good memories of it too! I think I played that fishing game when I was little!
Sounds like you guys had a great time! It's always nice to get away and visit grandparents, and I'm sure it's even better when you have kids who get to experience what you did as a kid.
I'm so glad that your boys are getting to make so many memories with Grandma Mary!!
Looks like you guys had such a great trip! I am sure you Grandma loved having you guys visit. I loved going to my grandma's as a kid-we all had our favorite grandma toys, too. You are super mom for making that trip by yourself!
Hey there Juli Beth! I have been thinking about you and I found your website! Your boys are so big and so cute! It looks like you are doing well! How is the school nursing going? Do you like it? I sure miss you! I am still at Harris and really enjoying it still! Matt and I are doing well! We are ready to have a baby but it looks like I have polycystic ovary syndrome and am having some trouble cycling at all. We have just recently found this out and have not started any kind of treatment so far. Please pray for me at this time and that I will be able to loose weight easily. I just started weight watchers this week and I really like it! Well I hope to hear from you soon! Let me know how things are going!
