Regrets

Back in August of 1998 I (David) had moved out to Abilene to attend ACU. It was Welcome Week and the activity one evening was this christian rock band coming to campus to play a free concert for us. I had made a few friends and we had gone and eaten dinner and then walked into the gym where this rock music was blaring loud and it was hard for me to understand a single word that was sang- it was hard enough to hear the lyrics over the guitars, drums, etc. I think I stayed there maybe 5 minutes- tops. I walked out thinking- who was that and how could anyone stand to listen to that music? After all, if it wasn't Garth, George or Reba it wasn't music to me! By the way- that band was Third Day.

Fast forward now to October 2007. The State Fair of Texas is in full swing. We were on our way to the fair grounds for our annual pilgrimage to take in the State Fair and a commercial comes on the radio advertising the Third Day concert the last Saturday of the fair. You should know at this point that Third Day is now one of my favorite groups to listen to on all of radio/CD/iPod. Wade hears the spot and is all over it asking us if we can go. Of course in the back of my mind I have known about the concert for a while and had a big desire to go. So we pulled the "we'll have to see how the week goes, if you behave, do your homework without fussing, (or enter your own parent deal maker line here.)" Well Wade was very good and we did go to the concert. Do you have something in your life you could go back and change? Here's mine: I would go back to Welcome Week and give that crazy christian rock band a chance and listen to their concert. The Third Day concert Wade and I went to was AWESOME!!! For under $30 we got to sit about what would be approximately 10 rows from the stage and rock out and praise God with Third Day and thousands of other people. I forgot JB's camera so I was left to take pics with my camera on my phone. It is just a 2 megapixel camera (but my phone is awesome) so the pics are grainy to say the least. I wish so many more people could have experienced this concert. Here are the pics:

The first pic was when Mac was saying a beautiful prayer before they played "Cry out to Jesus." By the end of this prayer and song I will admit I was in tears. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever experienced. Many of you know that JB and I have been through a lot this past year (most of which I can and do admit is my fault). In the darkest part of our situation there was a period of time when I knew/still believed in this Jesus and God but I did not want to pursue a relationship with my heavenly Father. I didn't want to pray, read my Bible or anything really. It was this exact song that broke down the wall I had built around my heart. If you have ever heard the song you can understand, if you have not heard it, check it out- it can change lives.
Ok, I am really rambling and I apologize. Thank you for staying with me here and reading this. One last thing- if you ever get a chance to see Third Day- DO IT!!!!!!

DW - I love you, and I'm so glad that you are my brother. I'm also glad that the God we serve is in full pursuit of us...always...and that he doesn't give up when we stop pursuing him! I praise him for his faithfulness to you and JB...for reconciliation and healing! Love, DL
