Smarty Pants!
Wade's at it again! Showing us just how incredibly smart he is. He came home from school on Friday telling me that he was excited because he is doing a Reading Contest. He said "Ms. Jones put me in it because I'm one of the best readers." (He is a lot like his father. He doesn't have much of a self-esteem issue.) I asked him what it was. He said it was a lot like the test they do at the beginning and end of the year where they test whether or not they are reading on the grade level they are supposed to be. It's called TPRI. He said that he would read a story, the teacher that was testing him would time him and then ask him comprehension questions. They are scored on how quickly they read plus their comprehension scores. Anyway, he said "Yeah, and the last one I read, Ms. Vaughn looked at me and said 'Wade, that was the 10th grade level.'" I said "Are you sure, Wade?" He said "Yes, she said that it was the 10th grade level." I was thinking, okay, I'm going to have to ask Ms. Jones what this is all about on Monday. Then, Saturday morning, I woke up to Wade saying "Mommy, isn't TCU where Daddy used to work?" I said "Yes, Wade." He said "Oh good, that's where I get to go if I win this reading contest." This made me all that more anxious to find out exactly what was going on. I sent a note in his folder this morning asking Ms. Jones if she could explain what the reading contest was all about. She called me at work and said that everything Wade had said was true. She explained that the test only goes to the Sophomore level. So, he apparently read as far as he could. She said that she did not have his scores back yet because they have not completed the testing of all of the students. She said that if he wins, he will go to TCU on November 10th for further competition. She said that she will let me know how he did as soon as she gets his scores back. Isn't this CRAZY???
