That's right. Wade won third place this morning in the first grade spelling bee!!! We are so proud of him. It was an honor for him to be in it in the first place. They only chose 25 first graders to participate. So, we told him before he even went to school today that he should feel honored and not be disappointed if he didn't do as well as he wanted to. But, he showed us! He did so well! He was so cute up there and you could just see him getting excited everytime it was his turn to spell a word.
Okay, I'm sure you're all wondering what word he spelled incorrectly! A-B-L-E, that's it. He spelled it like Cain and Abel,
A-B-E-L. Oh well! At least he pays attention to the Bible stories. :)
He was so sweet. After he got his ribbon and certificate and they finished taking his pictures, he came running up to us and jumped into his Daddy's arms. It was so precious!!! He seemed like he was on top of the world. And I have to admit there were tears in my eyes. Seems silly, right? But it feels so good to watch my little boy feel such a sense of self accomplishment and makes me excited to know that this is one more step in building on his love for learning.
I will admit that I was the blubbering idiot in the back of the room balling my eyes out when little kids got out for misspelling a word!!! There was one little boy that stood at the microphone for a looooong time trying to spell the word. He finally stood there and hung his head. When the teacher told him the correct spelling, he gently stomped his foot in disappointment and walked off of the stage! OH MY GOODNESS!!! I REALLY lost it that time! If I hadn't been holding the baby, I would've probably been up there hugging all of the kids as they came off of the stage!

Yay Wade! I like that he missed the word able because he spelled it like the bible character (i mean, i don't like that he missed one at all...but you know what i mean).
