Chicken Pox

Yes, you read that right! Wade has chicken pox. He came home from school this week telling me that some kids in his class have had the chicken pox. By the end of the week I think the total just in his class was 6 or 7 kids. The whole school has had over 75 cases of it. The sad thing is that all of these kids have had the immunization, but it's not working.

They are most contagious 2-3 days before they ever show signs/symptoms of the virus. It is highly contagious, so they say that siblings will almost indefinitely get it. They say that the siblings will typically start showing signs/symptoms 2 weeks after it starts with the first child.

Well, guess what!? Jana Kay's wedding is in 3 weeks. Oh my goodness! If Lafe and Joseph get chicken pox and are not well by the wedding, I WILL DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have sweet, fun things for all of the neices and nephews to do, and I absolutely do not want any of my boys to miss out on this experience! The whole family has been excited about this last big shindig for the Bridgwater family, and I cannot imagine any of us not being able to participate.

Therefore, I am BEGGING anyone who reads this to please pray God's protection and healing over our family! I know that this may seem silly to some people, but this means a lot to me and to Jana Kay. I know that God is good and that He will take care of our family, we just need to show Him how much we trust in Him by praying and communicating that to Him. I thank you all for your prayers in advance. Also pray for Wade's peace of mind. He has already missed so much school with the flu and after he went to the hospital with Croup. He is very upset that he is going to have to miss more school. It just depends on how bad this gets, as to how long he will miss school, but they say that some children have to stay away for a whole week! Can you imagine??????????? In that case, please pray for me and my sanity!!!!!!

Oh no!!! I can't believe that the vaccine isn't working! Your boys will be in my prayers-and so will you :)

That's aweful! I knew a person who's kids got the chicken pox after having the vaccine. It must not be a very good vaccine. I'll be praying for you!

I am sorry y'all are dealing with the Chicken Pox right now. I know I would be so upset if I had to miss any of my families big events. I totally understand how you are feeling. I hope Wade gets well soon and that no one else catches it. I will be praying for y'all.

Caught your website through Staci's - hope you don't mind! I'm not sure why we continue to vaccinate for chicken pox except that the doctors insist that the vaccine will make any outbreaks milder. Maybe. I just had to comment on your last post about the horrid group work at school. I feel for you! When I went through UTA's bridge program group work was the bane of my existence! And with a new baby (I had one then too) you just don't have time to put up with all the junior-high-like students. Sadly, it just means that you will wind up doing the majority of the work to ensure you get the grade that you want. I hate that it still hasn't changed, but thankfully, like the chicken pox, it is only temporary! (You are in my prayers!)

Thank you, Julie! I completely agree about the vaccinations! Wade's cas has been very mild, but I still think that if I had known more when he got his vaccination, we might have foregone that one. The natural immunity is so much better!!!
